The Parallel Vienna is a mixture of art fair, exhibition platform, and artist’s studio that takes place in Vienna every September. It combines exhibitions by commercial galleries, off-spaces, and art associations, along with individual presentations by selected artists. Instead of usual art fair booths, each exhibitor occupies their own space in a temporarily used vacant building. Site-specific artworks and interventions are the hallmark of Parallel Vienna, making it a unique exhibition format outside the “white cube.” Participation is by invitation from the curatorial team.
